As the largest brewery in Vienna proper, Ottakringer Brauerei has a generation-spanning history to go along with its size. Surviving annexation and Nazi rule (after having to sell the plant given its Jewish roots), followed by a short ownership stint by Russians post-liberation, the brewery was returned to its war-time owners who continue to care for the hops and barley.
In addition to knowing how to brew, the 16th district beer center knows how to party. Often renting out their brewing facilities for party purposes, party-goers get to hop next to hops and drink in the cradle of liquor.
