Surrounded by a beautiful park in the posh 19th District, this fascinating building allows special insights into Vienna’s history and its current culture. The peculiar architectural jewel built by by Karl Mayreder in 1888—the building was once used as a production facility for moth powder imported from Persia—offers a great environment for modern art and music.

Every year from May to October the Zacherl family opens the house for art lovers, presenting contemporary Austrian art and music in cooperation with the Otto Mauer Fund. Visitors may find solemn silence paired with historic cosiness and are invited to spend time contemplating in the beautiful setting. A precious alternative to common commercialization of landmarks!
