In 1991, after 2 years of reconstruction, Kunst Haus Wien — located on the Weissgerberlände — was opened in the buildings erected for the Thonet brothers. It was designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser as a privately managed museum.

The Kunst Haus Wien houses the only permanent collection of Friedensreich Hundertwasser’s work worldwide covering his philosophy and contributions to painting, graphic arts, ecology and architecture. Take some time-out to contemplate the life of one of Austria’s best-known contemporary artists in café/restaurant “Dunkelbunt”, with its paradise garden and exquisite flower arrangements.
