Inoperable Gallery
Stencils from the streets

Let’s face it, Vienna is no New York or Berlin when it comes to street art. The guys at Inoperable try to change that for quite some time now. Operated by Nicholas Platzer aka 401RUSH, the gallery is dedicated to exhibiting street art, pop surrealism and lowbrow art from around the globe.

In a more conservative city like Vienna, Inoperable is paving the way for street art to become part of the local psyche. Inoperable attempts to break through traditional ideas of ‘Art’ in the Viennese community, bringing the ‘street’ into the city.

Inoperable functions through a word of mouth network, where artists are connected to the public via the Inoperable Gallery space. Hosting around ten openings a year, Inoperable allows people to wander through its doors to experience a range of works from various artist, including Shida (Aus), Tara McPherson (USA) amongst local and international heroes.
