Supporting artists like Peter Friedl—well known for his Documenta XII installation, Zoo Story, of a taxidermy giraffe from the Gaza Strip zoo—Galerie Meyer Kainer is a central orb for progressive contemporary art.
Located in a former beer hall, the gallery space has been transformed into a windowless temple of art, exhibiting well-known international artists like John Bock, Liam Gillick, Rachel Harrison, Sarah Morris, Raymond Pettibon, Olaf Breuning and many more. Their roster of artists, which is perhaps the city’s most cutting-edge, is diverse but displays an affinity for politically-inclined, conceptual artists.
