Expertly kitsch and wild at heart, the “Jenseits” has been around for a while. With its red lights, plush sofas, fabric wallpaper and colorful knick-knacks, this former brothel’s atmosphere can trigger a swinging night. 30-something crowds—media and art folk well represented—congregate on its tiny but active dance floor to “score” both on and off, while humorous and wacky DJ selections soundtrack the night’s festivities.
Noted schizophrenic evenings have gone from rockabilly, Oasis and Schlager (Austrian country music) to retro funk and soul. While Fridays and Saturdays are the most packed, other nights offer a feverish fete into wee hours.
