Chelsea is one of the main music attractions on the Gürtal (the other ones are B72 and Rhiz). A small indie rock club with a long history, it first opened its doors in 1986 (first at a house on Piaristengasse) and built a reputation as a solid rock venue by launching local Austrian acts such as Hans Platzgummer and Fetish 69. It also hosted the first live performances in Vienna of international acts like Golden Zitronen, The Fuzztones and others.

Today, Chelsea continues to be the go-to spot for seeing an amazing live rock show. Shows are intimate and can get packed like sardines with only a capacity for 250 in the main room. A daily changing DJ-line up spins various strains of rock and pop—from new wave, garage, indie, punk to Northern soul by trusted local tastemakers such as Chris Duller, Fritz Plöckinger and DJ X&I.

Aside from music, Chelsea presents English soccer daily, broadcasting football matches year-round, best paired with one of the wide assortment of whiskeys or English beer.
