As much as Shanghai is made out to be a shopper’s haven with unsurpassed production and distribution of just about any product you’ll find anywhere in the world, you sure have to sift through a lot of crap. Especially if tacky run-of-the-mill souvenirs and knockoffs aren’t what you’re after.
Enter Spin, with its reasonably priced high-quality Chinese ceramic tableware. The company was originally established by restaurant owner Jeremy Kuo and designer Gary Wang in 2004 to create tableware with clean, simple designs for Kuo’s Shintori and People restaurants.
Today the shop remains a well-kept secret among tourists and expatriates in Shanghai who appreciate the beauty of well-designed, elegant Chinese ceramics. On average, new designs are introduced every three months and produced in partnering workshops in Jingdezhen, the ancient porcelain capital of China. Feel free to speak to the sales manager, Anita, who is extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
