The epitome of nightlife on the Bund, Bar Rouge features all the requisite elements for a swanky joint: outdoor terrace replete with sweeping views over the Huangpu River, private indoor booths, plush red upholstery, souped up lighting and French-inspired interiors. Having recently renovated to step up its already high class game, Bar Rouge proudly caters to an upscale clientele, attracting a host of beautiful or wanting-to-be-around-beauty patrons.

While some may find the spot simply douche-driven, we have to hand it to the guys behind this venture for supplying Shanghai with one of the city’s most elaborately cultivated clubs. With theme parties setting the weekend off from Thursday on and Friday and Saturday parties that extend into the morning hours, Bar Rouge demands the most of its resident DJs and dedicated staff. Foregoing ‘bar talk’ and skipping straight ahead to ‘mixology’, the cocktail menu features flames and a ton of other tricks. Reservations are accepted in advance to book terrace tables or indoor private box seating.
