A meal at Laris might cost more than what you intend to spend during your holiday. But that shouldn’t prevent you from checking out the scene and spending part of an evening at this upscale establishment. A better idea for your wallet would be to head to the Vault Bar for an after-dinner drink and some entertaining expat-watching.
Vault Bar commonly serves as the meeting point for Shanghai newcomers, from out of towners visiting friends to business associates blowing off steam. The best day to head over is on a Thursday, when martini-time arrives with a two-for-one special. Unsurprisingly, this is also the busiest night of the week, which depending on what kind of setting you’re looking for will either work for or against your experience—be prepared to play the staring game. Though we’re never ones to pass up the opportunity to double our martini count without a jump in cost. Turns out Vault does indeed store some valuable goods.
