Galeria Vermelho, which resembles a labyrinth of cubes, is currently São Paulo’s most interesting art exhibition space. Taking New Media Art as a focal point, the “Red Gallery” program includes everything from video to performance, from installations to interventions. It puts particular emphasis on group exhibitions and aims to nurture artistic experimentation while “stimulating linguistic transdisciplinarity”.
Perhaps because of this penchant for communication and collectivity, Galeria Vermelho became the hottest ticket around quite soon after its establishment in 2002: whenever it launches a new exhibition, the voguish art crowd shows up to schmooze and smile, see and be seen.
