It may be rather incongruously named after a neighborhood soccer team, but Alcides e Amigos (“Alcides and Friends”) makes the best t-shirts around. Lightly used or washed several times in order to look old, these—and the rest of the shop’s wide-ranging stock—come in hip vintage styles.

The owner Fábio Souza also works as a furniture designer, so his creative abilities are also expressed even in Alcides e Amigos’ decor: the shop is entirely built from second-hand wood stripped from closets, bed, doors and so on. It sits amid a crop of like-minded boutiques; Souza used to DJ with some of these friends (like the owner of B. Luxo) at Clube Glória.
