If hip young Paulistanos flock to this jewel of a sushi restaurant like homing pigeons, it’s with good reason.
Shimo’s sleek design (by architect Marcelo Rosenbaum) resembles something out of a science fiction film. It stretches across three individually themed floors: an intimate sake lounge in the basement, a sushi bar in the middle and a private room upstairs.
The cuisine at Shimo follows a particularly courageous type of fusion: the menu combines special Japanese-style creations with Brazilian flavors, which may sound like a bit of a dodgy idea, but one sip of the sake caipirinhas will blow any skepticism out of the water—and it’s just one of many similarly marvelous combinations.
