Yukiko Paris has been a neighborhood fixture long enough to watch the Marais transform into a fashion hot spot. Celebrities and fashionistas regularly visit in search of coveted iconic accessories by the major couture houses, such as Hermes silk scarves, Christian Dior saddlebags, Gucci wallets, and of course Chanel 2.55 quilted bags and costume jewelery.
The owner, Yukiko, designs a line of furs and silky feminine pieces to complement her vintage finds (a selection process she keeps tightly under wraps). Mirrors, vanity tables, candles and a chandelier are intended to create a space that resembles a girl’s bedroom. However, the slew of coquettish mannequins lounging around in Yukiko’s designs and couture accessories—similar to the PYTs sipping cafes across the way at La Perle—looks more akin to a chic tableau vivant.
