Spree is located in an area usually swamped by crowds of tourists on the perfect present hunt for their loved ones back home. But while the usual suspects are debating over the purchase of a glittering Eiffel Tower shaped ashtray, the shoppers in Spree are torn between the one-of-a-kind blouse by Tsumori Chisato and the designer jeans with the amazing fit.
The store’s sparsely decorated interior has a spacious, whitewashed feeling to it, leaving the spotlight to the large collection of vintage designer furniture, also for sale. Spree’s roster of clothing might not be particularly remarkable compared to other stores in Paris, but given its situation in a neighborhood besieged by poly-blend T-shirts of the “Je t’aime” sort, Spree is an island of style in an ocean of kitsch.
