Vietnamese-French designer Barbara Bui, not one to fall prey to le dernier cri, keeps it real. The immaculately preserved 52-year-old designer delivers her signature “rocker chic” style season after season, satisfying a global cult following for some 21 years.

It’s no wonder her three-level flagship store is one of the most impressive yet simple designs on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Her clothes match: Breezy tops and flowing dresses elegantly mix with cigarette-thin pants, rubber band-tight dresses and killer heels or platforms. The designer currently favors zips, studs and grommets, and she sprinkles them generously throughout a mostly dark-toned collection. The look is all together androgynous and feminine, fitting for wayward fashionistas and confident minimalists alike.
