The Broken Arm Fashion is life

There’s a new generation of boutique storekeepers in town and they’re credo is simple: Fashion is life. And The Broken Arm is where they’re preaching from. The physical manifestation of website De Jeunes Gens Moderne, this multi-brand, male-and-female-friendly synagogue of style boasts stock from a host of young and exciting designers—Aurélie Bidermann and Christophe Lemaire amongst. And the buck doesn’t stop there though, far from it. With a swish cafe out back and collaborations with creatives across the city with similar sensibilities as the founders (architects Marine Delaloy and Mathias Gervais De Lafond par example), The Broken Arm is establishing itself as the future of fashion shopping in the world’s fashion capital.

Boutique Repetto Satchels shoes 'n' shirts en pointe

Mixing and matching high-brow garb with low-brow duds is a time-tested closet ritual that results in (hopefully) forward-trending, adventurous fashion that pays a nod to epochs gone by. With ballet slippers commissioned by the likes of (a young) Brigitte Bardot and (the current) Opéra National de Paris and Opéra de Lyon, the darling, delicate women’s shoes crafted by Repetto are a worth-it investment to buff-up the high-fashion section of your wardrobe.

With a rich, tasteful selection of leather satchels, wallets and purses, as well as street-wear slippers and heels, Repetto sells pieces that bespeak chic in the famed Gainsbourg Zizi style.

Thomsen A shirt for all seasons

Fiancé team, Alix Thomsen and Lionel Bensemoun, launched their semi-eponymous boutique store in 2009, bringing to the fore that evergreen Parisian classic, the fitted shirt. They also offer some quality jackets and cardies but it’s the shirts that carry the most prestige with a range that is stylish, and casual whilst maintaining a vintage feel.

The owners source their poplin, cotton veils and woolen fabrics from select producers in Japan, Italy, America and France before they go up for grabs in store as rugged, sexy shirts for the ladies, and as suave designs for the gents. Thomsen remains loyal to their previous ranges by keeping them in stock and for sale but they still throw up new and timeless cuts season after season so it’s definitely worth keeping tabs on their catalogue.

Check out their blog for some inspiration.
