Those familiar with its eponymous brand of lounge mixes need no introduction to the ambiance of cultivated chic at Hôtel Costes. Even its ubiquitous presence at ‘90s DJ parties can’t shake its cool: intimate rooms blend aristocratic decadence like Napoleon III furnishings with the modern trend of white linen sheets and cutting-edge technology. Downstairs, the restaurant/bar brims with the usual suspects of trendsetters leisurely splayed over lounge chairs and the regal leafy courtyard.
The Costes brothers joined forces with designer and architect Jacque Garcia to construct the space in 1991, with one rule of thumb: “All things excess.” Following suit, the splendid pool flaunts an underwater soundsystem, shipfuls of stucco, glass and marble grace the walls and the average price for a stay hovers around 500 Euros-plus.
