Entertainer

Nicolas Ullmann is an actor, musician, DJ, and above all, the creator of the infamous Kararocké, a live rock band karaoke night which takes place at Le Bus Palladium. Get clued up on the Parisian bar circuit by checking out his favorite drinking dens. From classic bistro delicacies to enjoy with wine, to live music venues and movie director sightings—there’s something for everyone.

Places in this guide

  • Le Fanfaron Rock 'n' roll watering hole

A Tarantinoesque ‘60s rock’n’roll bar. Don’t miss the barman and his Mick Jagger impressions. The music is great and played on vinyl by the owner Xavier.

  • Le Lautrec Pigalle personified

A local bar crammed between the lapdance bars and the music stores. Features a good old pinball machine and a great cellar with live music (free most of the time). A great alternative when Chez Moune and Le Sans Souci are too packed.

  • Le Bus Palladium Epic rock epochs

Go straight to the bar and tell the barman Allan you’re coming on my behalf and he will prepare you a custom made cocktail. Comfy smoking room on the second floor. Great live music.

  • Chéri Bibi Bobo zone

I love this place for its great selection of wines (try “La Nine” du domaine Jean Baptiste Sénat, my absolute favorite), its uncluttered ’50s decoration, and its chalkboard wall in the toilets to leave a note on. It’s also great for food, and one Monday per month the owner lets his friends cook, €10 for starter, main and dessert.

  • Le Sans Souci Bright at night

Great location, great beer, great live music. The tables have red and white tablecloths, the steak is great, and it’s the favorite spot for an ageless local cowboy.

  • La Famille Substance and style

In my humble opinion, Houcine is one of the best barmen in Paris. Try his infamous molecular liquid nitrogen cocktails. The wine list is excellent too. One Sunday a month, there is a “La Famille Discount” where the set menu is 10 euros.

  • Le Floors All-american all the time

Technically this is not a bar, more of an American diner, located in a gorgeous building with huge glass windows and a spiral staircase. I usually meet my friends here for a beer and enjoy the “Happy Days” atmosphere. Try the black burger too!

  • Le Pompon Divine intervention

I often go to Le Pompon but I stay at the bar, because a) you can breathe b) the barmen are wonderful and juggle with bottles.

  • La Féline For rockabillies, a purrrfect joint

Undoubtedly the most rock’n’roll bar in Paris owned by Pat, who you can easily mistake for Lemmy from Motörhead. A small den full of rockers and pin ups. Great concerts and burlesque shows.

  • Food Paris 10
    Chez Jeanette Fashionably traditional

A pretty old-school bar, surrounded by Indian restaurants. The staff are great, it’s the perfect meeting point. You will always bump into someone you know. Don’t forget to pop in the Brady cinema nearby.
