Nanashi is a healthy, Japanese-inspired eatery in the edgy 10th arrondissement. Kaori Endo, formerly of Paris’ iconic Rose Bakery and hailing originally from Japan, helms the kitchen creating fresh, innovative fare, including a selection of bentos at lunchtime and Japanese tapas in the evening. Vegetarians are well catered to with a veggie option alongside the meat and fish bentos, and tofu and salads featuring in abundance on the blackboard menu, which varies daily depending on season and what’s available at the market. Fresh juice, brioche pizzas and delicious cake (including green tea and raspberry) are also on offer to up the vitamin- or calorie-content of your meal as required.
The venture has been so successful that barely six months after the opening of the original Nanashi, a second address opened in the arty-hipster centre of Paris, the Northern Marais. This second address is minimal and airy like its big brother, but slightly sleeker compared with more down-at-heel feel of the original, with white walls replacing the bare bricks adorned with brightly colored decorations.
