Of all the Chez this-and-that, Chez Julien should hover at the top of your list—if you can secure a table, that is. The Costes family purchased and revamped this 1780 bistro in 2007, instantly transforming it into a “hot spot” among the stylish Blackberry/iPhone crowd.
Aside from the Costes name, three things keep this restaurant packed—and make reservations imperative: the terrace’s magnificent view over the Seine, old St.-Gervais-St.-Protais Church and Notre Dame; the luxe décor of large gilded mirrors, crystal chandeliers and jewel-toned Louis Seize banquettes; and the menu of delicious classic French food like a juicy Chateaubriand steak or rack of lamb with skinny crispy fries.
