Chez Jeanette
Fashionably traditional

At the moment, Chez Jeanette is the one of the more popular spots for cool
and young Parisians. The interior of this bar-restaurant seems to be almost the same as it was about 60 years ago, with frilly frocked girls swinging their legs in an endless Can-Can on the yellowing wall paper, slowly disintegrating mirrors and old-fashioned red satin lamp shades. But the proprietor’s love for preservation has been rewarded—just recently, culinary guide Le Fooding bequeathed Chez Jeanette with a prize for its decor.

The place won’t win any awards for casual ambiance, however. Its rising popularity and loud music reaches club-levels of shouting. Best bets for the decent, if unremarkable, food are still the entrees involving meat and the cheese plate to follow.
