Contrary to its name, Nouveau Casino is not new or a place to gamble for a full house. Over its 150-year history, the Oberkampf venue has been the site of almost any kind of business in the book—a leather tannery, a number of differently-named concert-cafes, a cinema, a theater, and since its re-opening in June 2001, a lively club and concert hall.

The Casino has great sound and visual projection equipment, a tech team that knows its rope, and a musical roster of mostly the electro and indie-rock sort (Lykke Li, The Mystery Jets). Their aim is to bring in a variety of fresh-spirited artists that dare to cross genre lines.
