Some of France’s most famous actors, including Gérard Depardieu, started their career at the Lucernaire. This odd cultural center housed in an old and disused factory is a landmark for the intellectual crowds of the 6th Arrondissement.
Built like a small village, there is a tiny cobblestone street, a fountain, benches and street-lamps. You’re not in Disneyland but in a hybrid space of 1300 meters squares with three theaters, three cinemas, an exhibition hall and a bookstore. On Sundays, the Lucernaire is even turned into a concert hall for baroque music or classic guitar sessions. The place was created in 1975 to promote the works of young talents and show films or plays that aren’t shown anywhere else.
