La Galerie Crèvecœur resides in Belleville, a quirky, emerging quarter of East Paris where more and more young galleries, off spaces and artists have started to rival the supremacy of Le Marais.
Crèvecœur opened in 2008 and represents 7 international artists. Their erratic programme conveys high cosmopolitan ambitions and a playful lust to bring together various diverging positions and artistic experiments.
You couldn´t say the gallery maintains any particular focus. Rather you can see an eclectic jumble of contemporary mixed-media artwork covering painting, sculpture, performance, installation, pottery, video and hybrid forms. Artists represented by the Crèvecœur include video and photography based Laetitia Benat, and Glasgow based sculptor Mick Peter.
