Emerging from a lengthy struggle between the citizens of the 19th arrondissement and a real estate firm who planned to transform this formerly derelict broadcasting studio into luxury apartments, Frac Île-de-France/Le Plateau was launched in 2002 as an exhibition space with an emphasis on grass roots artists who display their works as part of the four annual exhibitions.
They have been running a curatorial residency project since 2009 whereby a guest curator coordinates a set of exhibitions for a two year period. By getting involved in a series of other collaborations, Frac Île-de-France/Le Plateau also broaden their artistic scope by focusing on the performing arts.
