A popular gay bar and art gallery in the Marais district, the Duplex is a hub for very cute male creatives and, judging by appearances, their equally blessed female counterparts. The stylish establishment keeps current by exhibiting a changing roster of artists each month.

True to its name, a tiny upstairs holds an awning-like ledge from which one can scope out the party people twirling below. It’s also where the smoking room is located—a kind of Pexiglass cube—but this is not recommended, as a five-minute treatment inside results in a splitting headache and a renewal of that New Year’s resolution.
