Designed by Mexican architect Enrique Norten, Hotel Americano’s design sustains a harmony with the western, industrial area of Chelsea. Fittingly, its interior features guest rooms that offer warm-hued wood alongside sparse, white walls that offset the nest-like, Japanese-inspired platforms for its plush beds.
Visitors there for the nightlife alone can enter through a separate elevator and access the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, The Americano, offering a seasonal menu that combines “French fare with Latin flair”. Yet if you’re taken aback by the sumptuous privacy of the hotel’s beds, order some room service—while you browse the in-room iPad—and delight in their bento-sized boxes of informal Mexican gourmet. Nothing says nonchalant chic better than this joint.
