Greenpoint, Brooklyn is Polish by nature and so you would expect to find exceptional pierogies and doughnuts in eateries and bakeries along many of its streets. Though with the recent invasion of young 20 somethings sipping fancy ice lattes and enjoying artisan goods, finding a solid Polish bakery may be somewhat daunting.
Peter Pan Bakery has long preceded Brooklyn’s waves of gentrification with its inexpensive and decadent selection of doughnuts. Its Polish roots give it added street cred especially when it comes to the art of the jelly doughnut. Though beware regarding its cheap prices and, especially, its ice cream doughnuts that may cause you to crash into a euphoric delirium.
