Delving deep into the hidden connections between people, Sonar —just like it’s used in submarines—is a company that reveals hidden connections and interests that you share with people nearby. Brett Martin, founder of Sonar, decided to create a location-based service where social media functions to foster serendipity. Pooling together information from Foursquare, Twitter and LinkedIn, Martin’s company has been awarded a finalist in the TCDisrupt 2011 for its sophistication, but its underlying idea was always quite simple: to find familiar faces in today’s hectic urban atmospheres.
For Unlike, Martin has picked out some of his favorite spots in New York, showing us just where you can find your own serendipity, online or off.
