Amidst a trend of small record stores going under in New York, this little Greenpoint outlet went against the currents and opened its doors for business in late 2009. Its reams of music are sourced by donations from major album collectors and estate sales country-wide, which means you’ll find a nice, hand-picked selection of music stocking the shelves.
Opened by the heads of local labels Mexican Summer and Captured Tracks, expect to see fresh NYC releases as well as a healthy collection of collector’s pieces, rarities and concert bootlegs. The collection is small but tight, with all the fat trimmed, leaving you with only the finest deep cuts. An analogue oasis that spans all genres, take your time browsing, chat with the staff and, perhaps most importantly, feel proud in supporting independent music from the point you buy a record to the moment the wax starts to spin.
