Nestled right where Bushwick becomes a faceless assemblage of industrial warehouses lies Shea Stadium, an-all ages music venue and recording studio that takes its name from the legendary former home of the Mets. Set up in a spacious former industrial loft, the venue’s focus centers solely around the music with its blank walls and elevated stage.
Run by a couple devotees of the DIY music scene, the event lineup caters strongly to up and coming acts, as well staples of the indie touring circuit. More recently, the staff has also begun to record their live shows and post them online as part of their Live at Shea Stadium series. Visitors on low budgets will be pleased with their casual BYOB policy and outdoor smoker’s balcony, as well as the stadium-sized aspirations of the venue’s performers.
