Flanked by the medieval city arsenal, now the City Museum, and the contrastingly modern Jewish Museum and dominating synagogue, St.-Jakobs-Platz is the centre of Jewish life in Munich as it was before the war. Littered with fittingly quaint cafes, the square is a perfect place to relax between museum visits, but also well worth a trip just to linger and soak up the spirit of this space’s optimism.
