Miami has a love affair with malls—from Aventura to Bal Harbour to Coconut Grove, the city has a complex with shopping complexes. But all too often, the malls are filled with run-of-the-mill luxury stores offering goods available worldwide. And then there was Oxygene: one of the last independent retailers still standing at the Bal Harbour Shops luxury mall, it is beacon of retail hope.
Its husband and wife owners have a keen eye for editorial to everyday pieces, and make frequent trips to European showrooms to stock their boutique. With a womenswear heavy edge, the shop mixes haute houses Balmain and Lanvin with next generation labels 3.1 Phillip Lim and Katherine Kwei. Men can also shop for Lanvin, Dsquared and Robert Graham.
With shoes, jewelry and edgy collaborations including Miami-themed tee-shirts by London’s Passarella Death Squad, there’s little reason to hit nearby monobrands and department stores.
