Anthony Spinello may not have significant formal training in art history, but he makes up in confidence what he lacks in white cube experience. The Brooklyn-born Miami transplant founded an eponymous gallery for emerging artists that quickly became a hot spot for outlandish and witty takes on the oh-so serious art world.
Guests have been force-fed apple pie by a devilish Korean sprite and Spinello openly rejects Art Basel by hosting the littlest art fair during the tony affair. Of course there are tamer times too. With a roster of young local artists, Spinello’s eye is one to follow.
