The matriarch of Miami’s Latin American art scene, Ella Fontanals Cisneros founded her non-profit art space, Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation—cifo, for short—in 2002 in an effort to incubate Latin American contemporary art in Miami.
Fontanals Cisneros is serious about supporting the arts, which is why the space acts not only as a gallery for her massive collection, but also as a granting foundation, a platform for events and the base for diverse commissions.
With a sharp eye for art, Fontanals Cisneros’ collection surpasses many of the staid stereotypes of Latin American art, offering a critical and engaged perspective to a world often shrouded by years of being forced under the radar.
