A Day in the Dorf

Regardless of whether it’s retro, euro, vintage or just plain avant-garde, selling “emotionally loaded goods” is the mission statement of the Los Feliz purveyor of infinite possibilities Weltenbuerger. Stocking a roster of designers that you simply can’t find in Los Angeles, Weltenbuerger brings a touch of Berlin and it’s do-it-yourself approach to the sun-glazed streets of L.A.

Browsing their selection of art and photography books is my favorite way to kill an hour. And once or twice a year I like to treat myself one of the crazy-expensive magazines they carry like S or Self Service.

This tiny burrito stand under a blue tarp in a Hillhurst parking lot may not be much to look at, but their mouthwatering recipes haven’t gone unnoticed. They’re winners of a James Beard Foundation Award, and that’s like an Oscar for a restaurant!

I love this place so much they should name a burger after me and call it “The Welten Burger”! It is definitely worth a trip further out to Watts.
