The Silver Lake neighborhood’s namesake is attributed to its local reservoir, a two-basin beacon that forms southern L.A.‘s prime water supply. The reservoir is composed of two basins, an upper one known as Ivanhoe and a lower one named Silver Lake. Owned and operated by L.A. Department of Water and Power, the reservoir is not only the watering hole of Southern Los Angeles, but also a key destination for nature lovers and fitness devotees. The Silver Lake Reservoir is home to three parks: the Silver Lake Dog park, the Silver Lake Recreation Center and the Silver Lake Meadow. Yet the scenic jogging path provides for most the activity here, whether you’ve got two legs or four.
