On the one hand, Actual Size is a clever play on words. On the other, an emergent artist-run gallery that is a lone soldier on New High Road in spite of the congestion of galleries elsewhere in Chinatown. Much like its name suggests, the gallery is refreshingly accessible. Spatially, its single-story structure is in tune with human scale but, conceptually, the four gallery directors choose to exist outside of the artistic community’s economic apparatus and instead focus on developing intimacy with the artists they exhibit and their contributing work. Though limited in space and hours, it is limitless in ideas.
