One of London’s most established luxury hotels, the Dorchester combines the Sultan of Brunei’s pizazz with Mayfair’s propriety. While fashionable travelers have lamented the hotel’s predominantly older clientele, its 2006 renovation has recently drawn the likes of international super celebs like Brad and Angelina. Despite its revamping, regulars remain loyal, drawn to the Dorchester’s more eternal qualities: impeccable service, choice location overlooking Hyde Park and traditional but luxe chambers consisting of 195 rooms and 49 suites.
The Dorchester’s main bar, boasting London’s best martini according to the The London Times in 2006, in addition to the bulk of its rooms and restaurants have been completely refurbished and at times re-envisioned since the hotel’s reopening. Several dining options are now available from the hotel’s tartan draped grill to its haute cuisine overseen by superstar chef Alain Ducasse, which not surprisingly has been the object of much buzz since its christening in November of 2007.
