Many people will argue that Lahore Karahi does not serve real indian food. Some people will say the staff are rude, others will say, its just a cheap curry house famous only for it’s Kebab rolls and their all right. It doesn’t serve Indian food, it serves real Pakistani food and there is a difference, big difference in fact.
Main dishes are prepared and served in a cast iron Karahi pot. The prices are low, the staff are only pleasant to families and the food is chilli-hot, service is speedy and inconsistant. Don’t be intimidated; simply make eye contact with a waiter and seat yourself down and start ordering.
The Lahore Karahi comes into its own as a takeaway, and there’s usually a queue at the counter as people collect their considerable banquets – not just chicken tikka in a naan, or portions of curry, but large and elaborate biryanis as well. Arrive on a Sunday treat yourself to some true Pakistani delights such Nihari, Pakistan’s famous breakfast curry.
