Making the leap from critic to creative is one that few dare to make and understandably so. But that hasn’t put off Mikael Jonsson, who has opened his first venture in Chiswick, namely: Hedone.
In keeping with his blog, Gastroville, the restaurant focuses much of its attention on sourcing only the finest quality of ingredients – and it has taken him a year to source the perfect set. It might sound a trite and overused description of a restaurant, but this focus is truly the momentum behind the project, and Jonsson has threatened to close ad hoc should the day’s produce seem not up to scratch. It’s a simple ethos that follows through to the unfussy interior, method of cooking and menu (there’s no a la carte option). All together, Hedone is a simple must.
