We’re not exactly sure where the tradition of chips sticking out of a kebab came from, but you’ll have to forgo your fried potato passion if you want to sample one of the greatest kebabs imaginable. Take a stroll to this teeming Turkish establishment and you’ll be spoiled for choice with its multitude of juicy halal kebabs (all prepared on-site), the punchiest chilli sauce this side of Istanbul, and humus so rich it probably owns a penthouse apartment in Mayfair. Bosphorus Kebabs is an eat-in or takeaway gem in the heart of South Ken. Despite the bevvy of museums in SW7, Bosphorus is where the real culture occurs.
The place has been in business since the early 1970s, serving generous portions to hungry folk. For meat lovers it’s a carnivorous paradise—order the large mixed grill with chilli sauce and salad and you may never need to eat again. For vegetarians there’s as much crispy fresh salad as you’ve ever seen, and sensational falafel the size of cricket balls. For late night post pub noshers or serious kebab aficionados alike, mark you map with the proverbial thumbtack on Bosphorous—we can’t reinforce enough how good this place is. Howsabout: if you don’t visit soon then you’re a big smelly chip scoffing chump.
