Tucked away at the top of Ledbury Rd, Beach Blanket Babylon (or BBB as it’s usually referred to) has been a stalwart of the West London bar scene for almost two decades. It has the chichi atmosphere of most West London watering holes and its clientele are very much the polished sorts that populate this side of town, with the extensive cocktail list drawing in a late twenties/early thirties crowd for after work drinks and evening soirees.
What makes BBB stand out from the rest is its decor, which is firmly entrenched in the maximalist camp of interior design. Louis 14th style chairs and chaise longues are covered in opulent velvets, imposing statues populate the stone walls, chandeliers hang from the ceilings and candle-lit walkways lead from one room to another – it’s over the top in the best possible way. For a daytime visit, try afternoon tea in the restaurant or weather permitting, on the terrace.
