Motto Charlottenborg Cultural compendium

The integrity of tangible books might be in jeopardy, but places like Motto Charlottenborg remain ever-resilient to change. Cross-genre in nature, Motto is housed in an elegant art hall and cultural hot spot. A self-publishing showcase, the walls boast an array of vibrant pièces de résistance of the aesthetic world, while open space for exhibitions, forums, and lectures allows lovers of the medium to wax poetic about the function of publishing and writing in a fast-paced world.

Emma Lu Fashion with intent

Istedgade, in the western suburb of Vesterbro, is the street to be seen on in Copenhagen these days. Cosy cafes, quiet wine bars, and if you look hard enough, you’ll chance upon boutique du jour, Emma Lu, a firm favorite with fashion editors and aficionados alike.

Owned by former stylist Gitte Kristensen, Emma Lu is an intimate space, with warm wooden floors and soft lighting.

Inside, you’ll find a choice range of items from progressive high-end fashion labels. Whilst many of this store’s four-walled contemporaries stick to championing Scandinavian designers, Emma Lu’s emphasis is firmly on sniffing out the latest fashions from designers from afar. Alongside a selection of Denmark’s best, including Peter Jensen and Louise Amstrup, you also get premium leathers from Spain, niche fragrances from Italy and quality footwear from London. It’s high fashion with a stylist service.
