The Stellenbosch Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery (SMAC), is situated in the historical heart of Stellenbosch on the first floor of the De Wet Centre. Through maintaining a keen interest in historical as well as contemporary art developments and discourses in South Africa, SMAC has made huge strides by hosting solo exhibitions, group shows and large themed.

The gallery has collaborated with and represents a number of important South African artists. SMAC recently curated retrospective exhibitions for Fred Schimmel and Claude Bouscharain and recently hosted a large retrospective show of much celebrated artist Erik Laubscher. Further recent highlights include Kay Hassan’s Fixing Time and Jonathan Guiatamacchi’s Locations.
