In 1984, a small group of fearless cinephiles from Kreuzberg were fed up with the conventional Hollywood range of average video stores, so they founded the self-proclaimed best, smallest video store in the world renting out English-language videos, music videos and off cinema films. In the meanwhile, Videodrom has become a video and mail order-shop alongside it´s rental store, enthusiastically devoting itself to slant, deviant and strange films.
Long before it became hip, Videodrom was celebrating Asian Cinema from Anime, John Woo to Beat Takeshi Kitano. The continually expanding film selection has reached the 25,000 mark. Amongst trash, documentary, art and underground films, you can find TV series (X-Files, Avengers and the complete Star Trek), Asian cinema, gay-lesbian productions and mainstream blockbusters that are often out on DVD before they have made their way to German screens. Countless, unpublished masterpieces in the archives of the Videodrom have turned casual customers into Videodrom junkies.
