Move over, Do You Read Me?!. This bookshop, buffered in handsome wood and dimly lit undertones, is the choice periodical hub in town.

After its Swiss inception in 2007, Motto opened its first permanent bookstore a year later in a disused frame factory in Kreuzberg. One of the main focuses of Motto is to offer the possibility of finding back issues of selected magazines, and also a wide selection of artists’ publications, including more experimental projects in sometimes very small print runs. With the likes of 032c, ANP Quarterly, Arkitip, Art Forum, Daddy, Dotdotdot, Mono Kultur and many others, Motto hoards a roster full of arts and culture-related titles.

Motto regularly functions as a space for book and magazine presentations, as well as special evenings dedicated to different discussions around publishing about art, graphic design, photography, typography and other related topics.

With a select assortment of glossies in a browser-friendly ambience, Motto quietly entered the Berlin magazine scene but impressively houses the complete archives of many publications.
