Named after Paris’ rue La Fayette, site of its founding in 1893, the Galeries Lafayette is a fashion institution; its flagship store on the Boulevard Haussmann in Paris attracts as many visitors each year as the Eiffel Tower.

With the 1996 opening of the branch in Mitte, the fashion retailer paid homage to Berlin’s growing role as a center of contemporary fashion and design.
