Köpenicker Straße’s new gastronomic upstart has taken a gem of a space, dating back to the Gründerzeit, and restored it into a spot fit for haute cuisine—and it’s immediately obvious why this space was so desired. Fitted with high wooden carved ceilings and imposing stained-glass windows, it’s an airy, venerable-feeling spot.
The 5-course, Paris-influenced main menu—that completely overhauls itself every three weeks—reflects a deep passion for surprising and challenging the tastebuds of its patrons. Stimulation is at high supply at Restaurant Richard—there are bubble chandeliers dangling in front of sculptures and a Pierre Klossowski risqué painting to oogle at—but never to the detriment of the food.
